What do they call you?

It is no secret that I want a grandbaby and, around here at least, I mention it almost every day. I am trying to decide what I want the little stinkers to call me. If you have grandkids, what do they call you? If you don't, what do your kids call their grandparents? I have tried a couple of names on, but nothing seems to fit.

Big J was always lukewarm about the whole grandbaby thing, he felt that if we had them that was okay, but if we didn't, that was okay too. Until I asked him want he wanted to be called.

"I never thought about it," he said.

"I think you should have them call you Pop Pop," I said, "You look like a Pop Pop."

He got a big smile on his face and I swear I saw a little tear in the corner of his eye, "Yeah."

I must have gotten him on the grandbaby bandwagon with that because a week later we were in Cracker Barrel and I was oohing and aahing over all the cute kid stuff and said, "I kind of want my first grandbaby to be a girl so I can play Cinderella castles. Although, I really do enjoy playing with Lincoln Logs. Which do you want, Honey?"

"I couldn't care less," he said, "I just wish they'd through something at us."

Mwah ha ha ha...got him. He's on my side now.

Since calling me You Look Too Young To Be My Grandma Kim is too much for a little kid to say, I need to know what your grandkids call you. Or what did you call your grandparents?

  1. My son calls my parents Maw Maw and Paw Paw. Well my dad and brother have the same name so he was confused about it so my dad is now Big Paw Paw. LOL

  2. I am Grandma Teri, and my hubby is Grandpa Doug. I love our special names...especially when our Princess Granddaughter is saying them.

  3. my 3 years old son calls his grandpa "papa"...the way i call my father :)

  4. My mother in law wanted my kids to call her Mama. I kid you not. I had to put my foot down. They call her Grandmama and my mom is Mimi.

  5. mom's - oma and opa.
dad's - grandmom (grandfather died young)
my oldest nephew called my mom mom mom and her husband pop pop and that has stuck with all the succeeding little ones.

our step grandparents (far too many marriages here) in Mississippi were Ma (like the A in fat)Maw and Pa (same A)Paw

  6. ah...my nephew calls my mum witchie nanny...but she prefers that to BIG nanny...like another nephew...its not that she's particularly big, its that his other nanny is particularly small, so he says big nanny and little nanny...not very flattering...

  7. My grandson, the 5 year old, calls me Grandma. If he needs to distinguish, it's Grandma Randi as opposed to Grandma Jeannie. I also have some other kids who call me Grandma, but I'm not their Grandma--not even related---but that's ok with me.
It's strange being a Grandma though, when my son is 10 and my grandson is 5.

  8. How about Grand Mammy? My son calls my parents mamaw and papaw! That really is a tough thing to come up with! My mother pondered the same thing, but just decided to let it go until he got here! She says whatever he calls her is beautiful to he ears! LOL

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. No need to point out my mistakes, I have family for that.
